On Tuesday I was hanging out in Ocean Beach, CA with Friend or Faux who are working on their first album. Ryan Bettinger, the former lead vocalist of Corporate Circus, is fronting this project also.  What I can’t figure out for the life of me is how this guy manages to make every track lyrically clever, amusing and memorable when the majority of major label acts can seem to muster even one of those adjectives. Corporate Circus was great (I highly recommend you listen to them on Myspace or chase down a CD) and the new duo (Ryan B. and Jon H) has already put together some shiny new songs that are made to be put on repeat. Only a few songs are complete at this point but by the sounds of it, something incredible is in the making. There are currently 3 songs up for listening, my favorite being ‘I was kinda right’. Keep an eye on this band, when more material is complete and the shows begin you’d be a fool not to at least get to one of them. Bettinger put on amazing shows with his former group and I expect even better things from Friend or Faux! So-Cal is lucky to have these talented musicians-check them out and help support a great cause, music!
